Situation in the Russian army is bad known in the other world. At the same time it is the most serious problem, which concerns of every Russian person, as every family afraid to sent their son to the army. There are several causes of it.
The tortures, slave labour, the denial in medical help, even the accidents, suicides, - all this are the usual things in Russian army. The young man who is exempted from military service by the medical causes could be taken to the army anyway, so his rights would be broken. There are a lot of the soldiers who return from the army being the invalids, a lot of them has not returned, as they died from the tortures and the beating, or put an end of their life, as could not stand suffer any more! A lot of the soldiers just did not return and their families do not know about them anything.

Another cause is war in Chechnya. The reasons of this war are known, it is connected with politics, with a lot of money. Besides, it is the opportunity to have “the enemy” outside the country, to divert attention of the people. Actually the russians do not need this war; they do not feel the enmity to the chechens. They do not want to send their sons for the senseless death, to convert them to the professional killers, who could not find their place in usual, peaceful life.
The conflict between the society and the authorities is very hard now. The best outgoing could be the professional army, what was promised by the president, when he entered into the post. The alternative service, which is so widespread in the other world it is not so popular in Russia, as it is very difficult to get it for the man called up for the service – the alternative service is not advantageous for the militaries.
